Clan Campbell built this castle on the shore of Loch Awe in the Highlands of western Scotland during the mid-15th century. Kilchurn Castle withstood numerous structural changes and battles, but it couldn’t survive a lightning strike in 1760, and by 1770 the roof was gone and the castle in ruins.
